Red Light Therapy Technical Specifications

Red Light Therapy/Photobiomodulation:

Red and near-infrared light therapy utilizes precise wavelengths to penetrate the skin and muscle tissues without being invasive. This approach promotes collagen synthesis, boosts mitochondrial activity, and enhances blood flow. These effects contribute to reducing wrinkles, accelerating wound healing, easing pain, and supporting tissue recovery. Additionally, Red Light Therapy has been linked to decreased fatigue and improved sleep quality, fostering overall well-being.

Photobiomodulation (PBM) operates on a similar principle but is specifically geared toward using light to repair, regenerate, and safeguard tissues that are damaged, deteriorating, or at risk. By stimulating mitochondrial absorption of light, PBM increases cellular energy output, triggering various biological responses. This includes heightened cell growth, movement, and attachment—key factors in tissue repair and cellular renewal.

irradiance chart

IRRADIANCE CHART

This chart shows how the intensity of red light changes at different distances from the panel. The numbers at the top represent the power of the light (irradiance) in milliwatts per square centimeter (mw/cm²), measured at different distances.

  • Closer to the panel (6"-12") → Higher intensity, meaning shorter treatment times are needed.
  • Farther from the panel (24"-36") → Lower intensity, meaning longer sessions are required for the same effect.

At Healthworks Nutrition Centre, our red light therapy is configured for 30 inches, ensuring a balance between effective light intensity and full-body coverage for optimal therapy benefits.
